Over the past few years, Dallas has seen an influx
of Louisiana-style restaurants. Few however, come along with a chef
that has nearly 30 years of professional restaurant experience in New
Orleans. Well, Swamp Cafe does! Chef David as he likes to be called,
takes his years of experience and drops it into a menu featuring
Po-Boys, Beignets, Gumbos and many other Southern Louisiana delicacies.
Unlike an authentic Louisiana restaurant, you will
find that Chef David uses only “Halal” meat in his dishes. And, he
offers vegetarian and vegan varieties of his Po-Boy and Gumbo. That is
a welcome change, indeed.
You will also find Fried Catfish, Shrimp or Oyster
baskets, Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee and a variety of salads. There’s
even a small market space where you can purchase Cafe Du Monde Coffee
and Chicory or Beignet Mix!

Chef David explained to us that he shops for all of
his ingredients, personally. He wants to make sure that he is not only
purchasing the best quality products, but also he negotiates hard to
keep his prices low, for his customers. And, that is one of the nicest
things about this place! The prices are very affordable. $7 for a
seafood Po-Boy is an amazing find. So, his efforts are much
appreciated.
If you are in Far North Dallas and have a craving
for some Cajun food, this place is worth a stop. Swamp Cafe also can
meet all of your catering needs! Nothing beats Louisiana food at
affordable prices! Thank you so much, Chef David.
